There is no single AMR price. Your total depends on the job, the site, the software, and the support needed to keep the system running.
Reviewed August 13, 2026. There is no one-size-fits-all AMR price. The better question is "What do we need to move this work safely and reliably?" The answer usually includes the robot, the handoff points, the software, the site setup, and support after launch.
What affects AMR cost
The robot is the part you can see, but it cannot do much on its own. The total project also depends on how loads are picked up, where they go, how robots share the site, what systems need to talk to each other, and who supports the team after launch.

What to measure
The best AMR budgets start with real operating data, not a rough description of an average day. Watch a normal period that includes busy times, shift changes, and the problems people have to solve. This gives suppliers a clearer brief and gives you a more useful baseline.

Do not let the average hide the hard cases. If someone steps in when a pallet is out of place or a route is blocked, note how often it happens and how long recovery takes. Those moments are part of the real workflow.
Plan the project
Quotes are only easy to compare when suppliers are solving the same problem. Use this checklist to give operations, IT, safety, and procurement teams a shared view of the work.
ISO 3691-4 covers safety requirements and verification for driverless industrial trucks and their systems. Your site still needs its own assessment, operating rules, and plan for proving the workflow is safe.
VDA 5050 can help when mobile robots and fleet systems need a shared interface. It does not remove integration work. Ask which version is used, which systems are involved, and who owns each connection.
Compare quotes
A lower total does not always mean a lower project cost. Ask every supplier to answer the same questions, then look for differences in what is included, what depends on your team, and what continues after launch.

Plan a pilot
A useful business case looks at the work that will actually change: travel time, waiting, completed moves, staffing, error recovery, uptime, and the cost of exceptions. Start with your current baseline, then state the conditions that have to be true for the new workflow to work.
Pick one repeatable workflow. Set the task volume, the test conditions, the training plan, and the review date before the pilot starts. You will have better evidence for the next step than you would from a headline estimate.
Costs over time
Do not put a one-time setup task and a long-term service commitment into one unexplained number. Ask when each cost happens, who owns it, and whether it changes as you add more robots or another workflow.

For every line, mark it as included, optional, customer-provided, or excluded. Then write down the assumption behind it. This makes it easier to spot when a low starting total simply moves work, risk, or later spending to your team.

Suppliers may be pricing different workflows, interfaces, safety tasks, launch support, software terms, and service coverage. A simple scope table helps you see those differences before you compare totals.
Give each supplier the same workflow brief and ask them to complete the same scope worksheet. Then compare what is included, what is excluded, who owns each dependency, how acceptance works, and what support costs after launch.
